statements unacceptable Monsignor Rigon

homophobia Once upon a time ... and there still is. And it's a problem!

On 19 February 2011, the inauguration of the 'Year of the Ecclesiastical Court of the judicial Liguria, Monsignor Paolo Rigon, judicial vicar, the presence of Cardinal Bagnasco, Archbishop of Genoa and president of the Italian Episcopal Conference, speaks of homosexuality as "a problem to be eradicated," which can be treated with "psychotherapy" when caught in time, because "homosexuality is not overcome ingrained" and other such amenities.

words Monsignor Rigon have not only sparked controversy and reactions throughout Italy , but could also have consequences judicial and cause a complaint to the court by groups and professional, so offensive, anachronistic and unscientific.

is frankly unacceptable that we can still say all these falsehoods nowadays heavily offending millions of people, and it is scandalous that the Diocese of Genoa has not distanced himself from these statements that show profound ignorance of the issue.

In the "European Parliament resolution of 26 April 2007 on homophobia in Europe", states:

"The European Parliament,

(...) B. whereas statements and actions of political and religious leaders have a major impact on public and then they have an important responsibility to contribute positively to a climate of tolerance and equality , (...)
7. condemns the discriminatory remarks by leaders
political and religious leaders targeting homosexuals, since

fuel hate and violence even if later withdrawn, and asks

hierarchies of their respective organizations to condemn them; "

How long we must wait for such enlightened comments and requests is ignored by our " competent" and "informed " political and religious authorities that should ensure that all citizens fair and peaceful social and spiritual life?
