"In recent days, a representative of Arcigay Pavia, met the Bishop of our city mgr. John Smith.
The meeting follows our request last Sunday, the result of a national initiative of Arcigay.
During the meeting we had the opportunity to talk about two issues: the life and health of homosexual persons.
The first side (life), we addressed the UN resolution of 2009: in that ' At the Vatican observer at the United Nations had expressed its opposition to decriminalize homosexuality.
The second side (health), however, we talked about the discomfort of many homosexuals who can not reconcile being gay with being a Catholic, in the light of so-called reparative theories endorsed by Catholic circles as a means of " healing. "
From these two macro issues, the debate has evolved in relation to what is the starting point of the Church and at the same time point "painful" for the homosexual relationship-Catholicism: The concept of sexuality as a means of procreation incompatible with homosexual unions.
In this regard we have tried to highlight some of the contradictions of the Vatican regarding this position. For instance, we wondered why there are no position on heterosexual married couples who have a sexuality not aimed at procreation (sterile, elderly, or couples who use contraceptives).
addition, we asked if a monogamous homosexual couple can be accepted by the Vatican and, therefore, officially part of the Catholic community.
Therefore, we concluded that perhaps the lack of direct knowledge by the Vatican's actually gay, it could be the source of many misunderstandings.
The meeting was intense, it is then concluded with a promise to meet again in a month because of the need felt by us that the bishop, to examine together the issues that we talked about in this first meeting.
