appeal to all institutions and civil society
unhappy regard to the latest utterances of Premier Silvio Berlusconi, "Better to be passionate about beautiful women who are gay," (dismissed as "beaten" by his supporters in bad faith or blind) the Association Agedo Lecce (Association of parents, relatives and friends of gay people) condemns the derogatory attitude towards people with different sexual orientation, affective and emotional reveal that these claims, pointing out that serious - given the high constitutional position which Berlusconi holds and should be guarantee the rights of all - highly discriminatory and homophobic.
In this context, it is that the European Parliament in the European resolution on homophobia in Europe of 18 January 2006, whereas
"homophobia manifests itself in the private and public sphere different forms, such as hate speech and incitement to discrimination, ridicule, verbal abuse, psychological and physical persecution and murder, discrimination in violation of the principle of equal treatment, arbitrary and unreasonable limitations of rights, often justified on grounds of public policy, religious freedom and law conscientious objection "(B)
" strongly condemns any discrimination based on sexual orientation "(Article 1)
" calls on Member States to ensure that LGBT people are protected from homophobic discourses imbued with hatred and acts of homophobic violence and to ensure that same-sex partners enjoy the respect, dignity and protection as the rest of society "(Article 2)
" calls on Member States to take any other action they deem appropriate in the fight against homophobia and discrimination based on sex and to promote and implement the principle of equality in their societies and their legal systems "(Article 10).
art. 3 of the Italian Constitution states that "All citizens have equal social dignity and are equal before the law, without distinction of sex, race, language, religion, political opinion, conditions personal and social "
We believe, therefore, that Prime Minister Berlusconi and those who defend him, in this case are not fully in line with the Constitution and with Europe, but, rather, reiterate what is a real and intolerable work free of offense and discrimination against gay people that has gone on so long, for too long.
say enough morally harmful to the work of such claim, and those people who have not, of course, among the key priorities, those of the well-being, equality and protection of the rights of all citizens.
Association volunteer Agedo Lecce, in line with the National Agedo asks, therefore, institutions and all to distance itself from such statements offensive and disrespectful, a legacy of archaic beliefs, free of discriminatory, grossly stereotyped and fraught with danger injury.
Like millions of other citizens and other families are grieving, sick and tired of the inability of our government to spread a culture of acceptance and respect of all the differences, but we continue to work in this direction, safe that a time will come for social justice and equal rights for all.
It 'just a matter of justice (with a capital G)
Gianfranca Saracino
president Agedo Lecce
